The Dalai Lama XIV Tenzin Gyatso can be reborn “in the free world” and “in the body of a woman”. This was told to RIA Novosti by his honorary representative in Russia, the CIS countries and Mongolia, the Supreme Lama of Kalmykia, Telo Tulku Rinpoche.
He explained that this could happen if the situation in Tibet remains unchanged and the Dalai Lama passes away as a refugee. “It is quite logical that he will be reborn outside of Tibet,” he added.
At the same time, Rinpoche recalled that the 86-year-old Buddhist leader spoke about his intention to live up to 113 years.
Earlier, Gyatso said that he might be reborn in India, where he lived in exile for 60 years. He added that any successor chosen by the Chinese authorities will not deserve respect.
In 2019, the Dalai Lama was ordered to be reborn according to Chinese laws. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said that ” the reincarnation of living Buddhas, including the Dalai Lama, must comply with state laws and religious rituals.”
The 14th Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso was born in Tibet in 1935. In 1937, he was recognized as the reincarnation of the previous Dalai Lama, and in 1940 he was elevated to the throne. In 1989, the Dalai Lama received the Nobel Peace Prize for his educational and peacemaking activities.
